It’s also difficult to have sometimes.
It is so easy to lose your focus, especially when you’re not seeing the numbers you’d like to see for your efforts. You want your sales and earnings to be higher, you want more email signups, you want more Likes on your Facebook page and you also want audience engagement on your author page.
When those things don’t happen quickly, you can lose heart and lose your focus. I know, because I’ve done it…many times.
Successful people have long realized that focus is the key to being productive.
Most of what we say and do is not essential. If you can eliminate it, you’ll have more time, and more tranquility. Ask yourself at every moment, ‘Is this necessary?’ ~Marcus Aurelius
Increasing your focus means you should get up each day and look forward to what you can achieve. Being focused means you are making progress towards what is most important to you. You will feel a greater sense of productivity and fulfillment.
If you want to see how distracted you can get online, just look at your browsing history. This will definitely give you the cold hard facts of how distracted you get. It will also show you what kinds of things distract you.
Learning to focus is important in both your personal and professional life. And remember, multitasking is one of the most overrated skills people claim to have. Don’t Do It! Period. End of story. 😉
Why focus is important
Ask yourself these questions:
- Why is being focused so important in today’s world?
- What results happen when you are focused?
- Does being focused make you less stressed? Happier?
Being focused on one thing for a certain period of time allows you to produce better quality of work. You get more work done and it happens quicker. Your creative ideas flow easier. Being focused on one task at a time is less stressful on your mind. And being less stressed allows you to be happier.
When you focus on a single task and avoid distractions, your brain becomes focused on that task alone. This lets you complete that task much more quickly than if you are trying to complete two or more tasks at once.
Let’s spend the next few weeks actively being more focused on our current story. Each month we’ll talk more about focus. I think many of us get sidetracked and lose focus way more than we want to admit to. And see, I’ll probably lose focus and forget that I plan to write a post on focusing each month. 🙂
